2009 Ford Flex in Nanaimo, BC

Luxury plus New Technologies Equals that Ford Flex

Based loosely on the Ford Fairlane concept from autoshows in 2006, this Crossover surprisingly exceeded all my expectations.

This Flex looks better than it was supposed to. It is just as shiny and sleek as the pictures, various National Autoshows, and the Ford Fairlane concept, have depicted. With this Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) at our dealership during early April, I was able to snoop through, touch and fall in love with the Fender Strat of automobiles.

The Flex has stolen my heart.

This is the CUV I want to hang out at the skate park with, take on trips to Tofino and, of course, to have grace my driveway.

So many luxuries and new technology, all in one vehicle it was hard to decide where to start. So I jumped right in as a driver.

Leather, heated and power driver’s seat is a perfect fit - snug and instantly comfortable, especially using the adjustable pedals.

The gauges are easy to use and include the variable ambient lighting originally featured in the 2008 Ford Focus; along with the Ford Exclusive Sync system which consumers, Ford dealers, and I all agree is the best characteristic in a vehicle since power windows!

Features everyone wants are in that Flex driver’s seat: Luxury, Safety, Comfort and Style.

An enormous multi-panel Vista Roof TM, with views to the sky even from all three rows of seats, allowed both a feeling of vast space and childhood wonder. Much like your first time looking through a telescope!

The power lift gate in the rear and fold flat seats are so easy to use you could get those large items, including bicycles, in with one hand. Cargo room available in the Flex: 468 Liters. Cargo comparison: The Flex has more cargo room than an F150 8 Foot box!

Go with the Class III trailer tow package and you’ll be able to have your dirt bikes and ride them too. The Flex Tow Package gives you the ability to tow up to 4200 lb. plus, with the standard tire pressure monitoring system you know you’ll be towing safely.

There is a fantastic amount of technology in this CUV, starting with Sync, Sirius satellite radio, Ford Exclusive Personal Safety System, the fridge console in the second row, plus power outlets in all areas of the CUV, and a 110 plug in the rear of the driver’s console.

You could power your entertainment center in the Flex.

The items in the Flex that I did not get to see up close while touring but would be absolutely thrilled to have, included the EasyFuel™ the innovative capless fueling and the touch key pad hidden in the pillar between the driver’s door and the rear door.

The 2009 Ford Flex, based loosely on the Fairlane concept, is Ford’s newest CUV. It includes technology and design that is far ahead of anything I’ve seen and after spending only a couple of days with the Flex, I have been impressed.

Everything the Flex promised during this last year has been delivered and I can barely wait for the Flex to officially arrive this summer!
